The Plan

The plan is to make it to the PGA Tour, and make a career doing what I love. This year I will be playing on the Canadian Tour which is a great place to play.

To be sure that I have the opportunity to play this year I will be raising financial assistance through three avenues. Private sponsorship as an investment, Corporate sponsorship for advertisement, and for those who want to help out but do not want to be involved in either option donations will be accepted. These options are explained in detail in the sponsorship sections of the proposal.

There is a lot that comes with playing at the highly competitive level of professional golf. Practicing, fitness, travel, nutrition, and bookkeeping are a few things to mention. It is tough out there and I strongly feel that how you go about doing it is imperative to ones success. After playing professionally for three years and competitively for close to 20 years I finally feel that I have found my way and am ready to start playing the kind of golf I always knew I was capable of.Your time is appreciated, and I thank you for your support in whatever way you can offer it. Whether it is to invest, to pass this on to someone you know, or to contact a company who might be interested in corporate sponsorship.

Thank you,

Brian Benedictson

Private Sponsorship

Private sponsorship will be available for $500 U.S. You can invest one unit, more than one unit, or you can split a unit. All that I ask is if you would like to split a unit is to put it under one name. For your investment you will receive a percentage of ownership and therefore receive a percentage of the tournament winnings at the end of the 2009 season.

The length of the term will run from February 1, 2009 through the end of the year. At the end of the year the payout will be made to private sponsors. 80% of all tournament prize money will be returned to private sponsors, while I will retain 20%. The pages titled Example Private Sponsorship Scenarios lists examples of how this works.

On top of the percentage of winnings at the seasons end, 10% of my annual PGA Tour winnings will be distributed amongst all private sponsors, both past and future, for the duration of my career on the PGA Tour.

The deadline for sponsorship will be April 1, 2009 and at that time the amount of units sold will be final. Shortly after February 1st all investors will receive a package including a partnership agreement, how much money was raised, their percentage of ownership, and information pertaining to where and when I will be playing.

Having private and corporate sponsors means that funds raised will have come from two separate sources. Only the private sponsors will be members in the business and have returned to them a percentage of the prize money, while the corporate sponsors will receive advertising and be kept separate. The funds raised from corporate sponsors will be kept in a separate account and will be used at my discretion. I will use a majority of these funds for my golfing expenses, which will make the private sponsorship dollars go further. With this said, I believe that corporate sponsorship will result in a larger return for private sponsors.

Your investment is not a loan and this is not an investment scheme. It is an opportunity for you to participate in my future. I will work my very hardest to see that you earn a positive return on your investment and have a rewarding, enjoyable experience.

Example Sponsorship Scenarios

Example I

Below are example sponsorship scenarios so you can better understand how this works:

Total Funds Raised: ……….…………………………….…............$85,000
Total Expenses: ………………………………….….......….............$75,000
Funds Leftover: (Funds Raised – Expenses)....………...…$10,000
Total Prize Money: ………………………………….....................$60,000

Prize Money to Sponsors: (80% of $60,000)……............…$48,000
Prize Money to Myself: (20% of $60,000)…..……..............$12,000

All leftover funds will be added to return and returned to private sponsors:

Private Sponsors Leftover Funds: …………………........….............$10,000
Total Returned to Private Sponsors: ($48,000 + $10,000)….$58,000

If in this example you invested $1,000:

Return would be 80% of ($1,000/$85,000) = .94% of $58,000 = $545 +
Leftover Funds ($1,000/$85,000) = 1.18% of $10,000 = $118
Total Return : $545 + $118 = $663 (net loss of $337)

As well as this you will be entitled to your percentage of 10% of my PGA Tour prize money for my entire career.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Example II

Total Funds Raised: ……….……………………………….............$100,000
Total Expenses: ……………………………………………..............$70,000
Funds Leftover: (Funds Raised – Expenses)....….……...…$30,000
Total Prize Money: ..………………………………….……............$380,000

Prize Money to Sponsors: (80% of $380,000)….......…...…$304,000
Prize Money to Myself: (20% of $380,000)…………..…......$76,000

All leftover funds will be added to return and returned to private sponsors.

Private Sponsors Leftover Funds: ……………...............…...............$30,000
Total Returned to Private Sponsors: ($304,000 + $30,000)....$334,000

If in this example you invested $5,000:

Return would be 50% of ($5,000/$100,000) = 4.0% of $334,000 = $13,360+
Leftover Funds ($5,000/$100,000) = 5% of $30,000 = $1,500
Total Return : $13,360 + $1,500 = $14,860 (net gain of $9,860)

As well as this you will be entitled to your percentage of 10% of my PGA Tour prize money for my entire career.

Corporate Sponsorship Overview

Corporate sponsorship will be my second avenue for raising the funding necessary to help cover expenses while competing as a Golf Professional. There will be four levels of Corporate Sponsorship available and details are listed on the following pages. What you will receive in the way of advertising, where I will be advertising for you, and who will see your advertising. The length of the sponsorship agreement will be for the 2009 season while I compete on the Canadian Tour and qualifying for individual PGA and Nationwide Tour events.

I strongly feel I can make your sponsorship a worthwhile investment. Having played golf at the college level for four years, assistant coaching for two, and professionally for one and a half I have made many friends and contacts. During the last two years while preparing for and playing professional golf I have been sending out weekly newsletters to sponsors, friends, and family. I have over 600 people on my mailing list who will be well informed of my corporate sponsors.

My professional approach to my career as a Golf Professional and my friendly demeanor have made me one of the more influential players on tour. I will proudly represent your company and believe I would be a good marketing vehicle as I have many people following my career and continue to meet and influence people along the way. Being on tour I meet and come across many people. People inquire about my sponsors and I inform them of my sponsors. I consider myself to be an approachable person with a knack for sales and would be proud to represent your company.

During the golf season I will base myself out of Carlsbad and Chico, California and spend my time away in my hometown of Courtenay, British Columbia. These are the areas where most of my friends, family and support base are and where I feel a corporate sponsor would receive the most exposure.

If you do not know me personally please contact me or check out my website at www.brianbenedictson.com. On my website I have information pertaining to my golf career, a biography, references, and much more for you to look at.I look forward to talking with you and thank you very much for your time and considering corporate sponsorship.

I will do my part by handing out information to the golf courses, players, and the public I meet. This will not take away from golf.

You will have me for 2 days for Pro-Am, private lessons, employee outings, client appreciation golf days, golf camps, etc.

Below are examples of what I could do:

Staff Retreat/Appreciation- What better way to treat your hardworking staff then to offer them a complimentary full or half day out at the golf course with a touring pro? Whether for an end of the year staff party or to show your appreciation for an outstanding job done by some of your staff. Bring them out to enjoy some time together while learning a few things about a great game.

Corporate/Client Outings- Do you have any clients that you're looking to reward? Why not send them on a corporate golf outing with a touring professional? Start their day off with a small group lesson followed by a enjoyable round with myself.

  1. Big Break- Just like on TV this option is especially great for team building concepts and creating camaraderie amongst your staff.
  2. Kids Day Camps- Sponsored by your business and run by myself. A great way to spread some good PR for you and your company.
  3. Staff Meetings- A nice way to follow that long staff meeting at the start or end of the year. End their day by sending them out for a round of golf.
  4. Golf Tournament- Have a golf tournament. I'll be there to get it organized and to help out during the event.
